2 killed, 3 injured in possible targeted attack in Inglewood

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Two people were killed and three others were injured during a shooting in Inglewood on Saturday in what Mayor James Butts believes may have been a targeted attack.

The violence occurred near the intersection of Manchester and Crenshaw just before 4:30 p.m.

Butts said the victim, who was not identified and described only as a male in his 50s, was inside a vehicle in a parking lot near Manchester when the shooter approached and began firing. It is unclear whether there were more than one shooter.

The mayor said it appeared it was a targeted attack.

One of the victims who was shot remains in critical condition and the other two are expected to survive. It is unclear what led to the shooting.

In the video posted earlier on the Citizen app, heavy police presence was seen in the area. There was also a white pickup truck with bullet holes in it.

“Who would walk up to someone and shoot five people,” one resident said. “It’s kind of ridiculous and scary. It’s just not right for this to happen in this area.”

Butts said police are actively looking for any surveillance video in the area.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
