Panic erupted in Gurugram's Tikli village after a leopard attacked and killed a cow in the area, seen on CCTV footage, causing concern among locals and livestock in the area. is at risk. A forest department team inspected the spot after the incident and said that precautionary measures have been taken after two leopards were spotted in the area.
Speaking about the same, a forest department official said, “This morning, we received a report of a leopard attack in Tikli, about 10 days ago we also received a report of a leopard attack here, after which our staff from here. Came to visit.”
“We got a report here again today that a leopard has attacked and killed a cow in the cowshed here. Tikli is situated in the lap of mountains. The cowshed here is close to those mountains. The cowshed is four The enclosure is such that even a person can cross it, making it easy for the leopard to enter the area,” he said.
He added, “In the CCTV footage, two leopards can be seen entering the area. Cows are easy prey for leopards and that's why it has become a habit for them to come to the area.”
“We have issued instructions to the concerned authorities to raise the village walls or put traps as a precaution. They have requested us to set up a capture cage, for which we will capture 2 leopards. Cages will be set up”. They said.
Earlier last week, a team from Haryana's wildlife department successfully rescued a leopard near Bhineswal village in Panipat.
After the rescue, the leopard was safely shifted to Kalisar National Park.
Several reports of leopard sightings have been received in Karnal and Panipat areas, prompting a rescue operation.
