In a late-night operation, Gurugram's cyber police busted a fake call center operating from two flats in Sohna's Flora Avenue society. The raid, part of Operation Endgame, resulted in the arrest of 20 people, including four women, who were found at the scene.
The suspects hail from states including Gujarat, West Bengal, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, as well as the neighboring counties of Nepal, who were engaged in duping international citizens under the guise of technical offers. . During the support operation, the authorities seized 25 phones, 16 laptops and cash worth Rs 50,000. The investigation, led by Inspector Madan Lal, revealed a sophisticated scheme in which English-speaking operatives targeted overseas victims.

In the investigation, Mahendra Bajrang Singh, a resident of Ahmedabad, has been identified as the manager of the fake call center. Singh, along with his accomplices and several employees, had been running the scam since May 2024.

The accused operated by sending pop-ups to the computers of international users through vendors. These pop-ups contained a toll-free number that, when dialed, connects to your call center through a VOIP app. As technicians at a well-known company, they downloaded the UltraViewer app and gained remote access to customers' systems. Once they gained access, they falsely claimed that the user's computer had been hacked. Under the guise of solving the problem, they paid $100 to $500 in the form of gift cards. These gift cards are then converted into cryptocurrency by colleagues in other countries.
Among those arrested by the police are Mahendra Bajrang Singh from Ahmedabad, Ashish Ojha from Darjeeling and Manlo from Chorachandpur (Manipur). Additionally, Vikhambu Chawang from Imphal (Manipur) and Amur Abunamai, Athiari Lohri, Kangpokpi, Vadan Wang and Namchambu from Manbait, Nagaland were arrested. The list also includes Caffeine, Achille, and Langli from Mizoram, as well as KK Lal Bekjoli, Shreya and Manish from Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh). Along with Munu Kumar from Delhi, Ramesh Gurung, Vinod Sharma and Shiv Bahadur Thapa from Nepal were also detained.
