Injuries are a part of every sport, especially football, where it seems like no team can escape at least one major injury each week. That's what happened to several teams in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.
Several teams suffered injuries to key players in Week 2. Let's take a look at each of the notable injuries that occurred during the second weekend of play.
running back
Tyje Spears: The Titans running back suffered an ankle injury in the second half against the Jets. Spears was seen taking off his shoes and heading to the locker room with a trainer (according to ESPN).
Marshawn Lloyd: The Packers' running back left the field with an ankle injury against the Colts and did not return.
Tank Bigsby: The Jaguars' running back had to leave the game against the Browns with a shoulder injury.
Isiah Pacheco: The Chiefs running back injured his ankle in the second half of the last game's win over the Bengals, and was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and a walking boot, according to ESPN. He is expected to miss at least four games after being placed on IR.
Joe Mixon: He left Sunday night's game with an ankle injury and will undergo an MRI on Monday.
wide receiver
- Justin Jefferson: The Vikings wide receiver left the game against the 49ers with a thigh injury and did not return. Jefferson, who needed help getting off the field, said afterward that he would be fine.
- Cooper Kupp: Matthew Stafford entered this matchup without Puka Nacua, and now he could lose Kupp. He suffered an ankle injury in the first half against the Cardinals, and never returned. The vet was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot/lower leg after the game.
- David Bell: Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that Bell has a dislocated hip and will require surgery.

- Vita Via: The Buccaneers defensive lineman was ruled out with a knee injury against the Lions. Yaya Diaby appeared to fall on his knee in the game. He has received a preliminary diagnosis of an MCL sprain, NFL Media reports. An MRI is scheduled for Monday.
- DeForest Buckner: The Colts defensive lineman was taken out with a foot/ankle injury against the Packers. According to the Indy Star, Buckner left the field holding his lower leg. Buckner has a sprained ankle and is scheduled to play next week against the Bears, according to the NFL Network. His x-rays came back negative and he will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the sprain, though it is not believed to be serious.
- B.J. Hill, The Bengals defensive tackle suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of Cincy’s matchup with Kansas City, and won’t return.
Linebacker
- CJ Mosley: The Jets linebacker was forced to leave the game against the Titans with a leg injury. Mosley had to ride a cart to the locker room.
- Jerome Baker: The Seahawks linebacker had to leave the field with a hamstring injury against the Patriots.
- Jermaine Johnson II: The Jets pass rusher/linebacker suffered the injury during a win over Tennessee. After the game, Jets coach Robert Saleh said that “it looks like” Johnson has torn his Achilles.

Graham Gano: In the game against the Commanders, the Giants' kicker had to leave the field with a hamstring injury. Punter Jamie Gillan took over kickoff duties.
