Tapi, August 27: Three soldiers were killed in a one-vehicle accident on the Trans-Arunachal Highway (Package-7) near Tapi village in Upper Subansiri district on Tuesday.

An army truck carrying personnel fell into a ditch near here, resulting in the death of the three, said the OC of Dampurijo Police Station.

The vehicle was part of a convoy going from Dipurijo to Basar (Leprada) when the accident occurred at 6 am.

Local youth and people of the area immediately reached the spot and helped evacuate the injured and recover the dead bodies.

The public alleged that the construction work on Package 7, especially the roadside bridges, has been carried out without ensuring quality, which has led to reports of accidents from the area.

Details of the accident are yet to be provided at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army's Eastern Command has identified the personnel as Havaldar Nikhat Singh, Naik Mukesh Kumar and General Duty Sepoy Ashish.
