‘3 Idiots’ fame actor Akhil Mishra passes away at the age of 67 after collapsing at home


Actor Akhil Mishra, best known for his role in Aamir Khan starrer “3 Idiots”, died on Thursday at the age of 67, a day after he collapsed at his residence in Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

The campaigner said Mishra, who had blood pressure problems, died of his injuries after a kitchen accident.

“He was trying to do something on a chair in the kitchen when he fell and hurt his head and back. He was later taken to the hospital by family and neighbours.

“He was still fine when taken to the hospital. And then internal bleeding started. Despite the doctor’s best efforts, he could not be saved,” the campaigner told PTI on Thursday.

According to the publicist, Bernert – who is Mishra’s second wife – was in Hyderabad for a shoot when she passed away.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee took to social media to condole Mishra’s demise.

Bajpayee wrote on microblogging site

Mishra, who mostly played character roles in films and TV shows, is best remembered for his role of librarian Dubey in “3 Idiots” starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.

He also worked in films and serials like ‘Don’, ‘Gandhi, My Father’, ‘Uttaran’, ‘Udaan’ and ‘Shriman Shrimati’.

According to the publicist, Mishra’s body has been sent for post-mortem.

The last rites were performed today at around 3.30 pm.
