5 lessons from the Ravens' team cuts

On Tuesday, the Ravens reduced their team count to 53 players along with the rest of the league.

Here are the five biggest takeaways from Baltimore's move:

The Ravens keep 10 offensive linemen and haven’t added anyone yet.

Head coach John Harbaugh has decided on his starting offensive line, though he's not sharing it. While the Ravens will have three new starters, they will also have plenty of depth with 10 offensive linemen on the 53-man roster.

The projected starters, at least based on those who started in the preseason, are left tackle Ronnie Stanley, left guard Andrew Vorhees, center Tyler Linderbaum, right guard Daniel Faalele and right tackle Roger Rosengarten. Veteran Patrick Mekari could also start or rotate at right tackle. In addition to these six, Baltimore also retains Ben Cleveland, Josh Jones, Sala Aumave-Laulu and rookie Nick Samak.

Pundits questioned whether Aumave-Laulu would make it, but the big-bodied 2023 sixth-round pick outperformed Tashaun Manning and others. Samak came in as Linderbaum's backup center throughout training camp (Mekari was on standby) and returned to the practice field Monday after recovering from an injury in the preseason finale.

Cleveland and Jones are veterans with starting experience. Aumave-Laulu and Samake, who were selected in the seventh round, could also develop further and step up when needed.

The Ravens didn’t make any deals, which would indicate they are set to play with their in-house starters. Still, they could monitor the waiver wire to potentially add depth.
