2. Potjikos
'Potjiekos' literally translates to 'small (or small) pot food' in English.
According to Taste Atlas, potjiekos is a traditional stew, made with various vegetables.
Potjiekos are traditionally made using an iron pot and are usually made over an open fire.
Everyone has their own traditional recipe for this Mzansi dish.
3. Skilpadjies
According to Taste Atlas, 'skilpadjies' translates to 'little turtles'. However, it is actually an offal dish made from bacon and cole fat.
The dish is packed and then cooked on fire. Of course, the best things burn a little but never dry out!
It has been one of Mzansi's favorite foods for generations.
