8 people hospitalized after serious malfunction on JetBlue flight en route to Fort Lauderdale – NBC 6 South Florida


Eight people, including a crew member, were airlifted to the hospital Monday after a JetBlue flight to Fort Lauderdale experienced severe turbulence, the company said.

According to JetBlue, flight 1256 had scheduled service from Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Fort Lauderdale, and as it approached Florida, it experienced a storm in the skies.

The flight landed safely at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport, where it was greeted by medical personnel, who transported seven customers and one flight crew member to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.

“JetBlue will work to support our customers and crew members,” the company said in a statement.

JetBlue said the aircraft for this flight was taken out of service for inspection.
