A friend of Natalie's said she was standing right next to the edge of the cliff when she slipped while taking a shot in front of the castle.

The friend, who did not want to be named, said: 'She fell about 80 metres. We will never know whether she slipped or whether a piece of the rock edge broke off.'

At the time of the incident, the young woman was accompanied by two friends and her boyfriend David.

Police described the route as a 'challenging climb'.

Local media reported that Natalie initially escaped the fall with serious injuries, and was rushed to hospital by helicopter.
