A 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a fatal accident with an open car door on Golf Course Road in Gurugram, police said on Monday. Police added that the motorcyclist was passing a car that had stopped on the road when the driver opened the driver's side door without warning, giving the motorcyclist no time to reverse or slow down.
The deceased has been identified as Devkanth Sharma. The injured person has been identified as Ganesh Kumar Jha (42). Jha was riding a motorcycle while the deceased Sharma was riding a track. Both worked in a management firm in Sector 56. The incident took place between 6 pm and 6.30 pm on Saturday at the underpass near Janpact Chowk when the two were returning home. Jha lived in old Gurugram and was going to drop Sharma, who lived in Delhi, at the Sikandarpur Metro station.

As they entered the underpass, they saw a car ahead of them that had stopped near the exit. As they were passing by the car, the driver suddenly opened the door. “Jha could not slow down his motorcycle as he was too close to the car and hit the open door. Jha and Sharma were run over. Though they were both wearing helmets, they sustained serious injuries on the head and elsewhere. ,'' one investigator said.
As the vehicle sped away, passers-by quickly pulled Jha and Sharma from the fast lane and arranged for an ambulance for Sharma, who was bleeding profusely. Sharma was rushed to a hospital in Sector 43 where he succumbed to his injuries in the emergency ward at 10.45 pm.

Jha lay unconscious on the road for several minutes as passers-by approached him. When he regained consciousness, he rode his damaged bike to the same hospital for treatment, police said.
“The hospital informed us about the accident and death at 1 am on Sunday,” said inspector Manoj Kumar, station house officer of Sushant Lok police station.
“Jha gave us the registration number of the car, which was registered to us at the Badshahpur SDM office. We will soon collect the owner's information from the authorities and nab the accused. We will try to identify the model of the car. were also scanning the CTV cameras,” Kumar added.

Based on Jha's complaint, a first information report was lodged against the car driver at the Sushant Lok police station on Sunday evening under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 285 (endangering or obstructing a public way or line of navigation) of the Indian Penal Code.
