The victim, Titiksha Sahay, 33, was standing outside her house and was going for a walk with her partner when the incident took place around 10.40 pm on Saturday, police said.

He said that the accused approached Sahai from behind on a speeding motorcycle and tried to snatch his phone which he was holding in his hand. His partner was at least 20 feet away when the incident happened, police said.

According to the police, when Sahay fought to stop the accused, they slapped and punched the victim several times after which they managed to snatch the phone. Police added that Sahay also tried to chase the fleeing accused.

Sahay said that everything happened so quickly that neither he nor his colleagues could react.

“Both the suspects were wearing helmets. Later we raised the alarm on which guards from nearby residences and others gathered to help,” he said, adding that he was a private in Gurugram. She works as an anesthetist in a hospital.

An FIR was registered against the accused under Section 379A (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sushant Lok police station on Sunday on Sahay’s complaint, police said.
