Amtrak service between Philadelphia and Connecticut suspended

Amtrak said the disruption also included trains to and from New York Penn Station.

Amtrak service was suspended Thursday afternoon between Philadelphia and New Haven, Connecticut, as workers attempted to restore power in the New York area, Amtrak said.

Amtrak said the disruption also included trains to and from New York Penn Station.

New Jersey Transit said its trains to and from New York Penn Station were also suspended.

An unrelated bushfire is also affecting wire repairs, according to Amtrak and NJ Transit.

Amtrak had warned that extreme heat in the Northeast could slow trains, causing delays of up to an hour. It was not immediately clear whether the service suspension was due to the heat.
