An 'orange alert' has been issued for Delhi amid warnings of heavy rain in the coming days.

Delhi is likely to witness heavy rains for the next three days as the Met department issued an 'orange' alert in the national capital on Saturday, the Met office said.

Some parts of Delhi, including Rohini and Baruri, received rain on Saturday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, 8.9 mm of rain was recorded at Safdarjung, the city's primary weather station, and 12.6 mm at Lodhi Road between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Saturday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rain on Saturday, with more heavy rain expected on Sunday and Monday, the Meteorological Department said.

The IMD, in its seven-day forecast, said that for the next seven days, the capital will receive moderate to heavy rainfall, and an 'orange alert' has been issued for the next three days.

According to the IMD, moderate rainfall is defined as rainfall between 7.6 and 35.5 mm in a day, and heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall between 64.5 and 124.4 mm in a day. Is.

The IMD issues four color-coded alerts – “green” (no action required), “yellow” (watch and stay updated), “orange” (be prepared) and “red” (take action). .

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees below normal. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 28 degree Celsius.

According to the IMD bulletin, the relative humidity was between 80 percent and 97 percent.

The national capital recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall on Friday, the highest since 1936 in the month of June.

On the first day of heavy rain this season, the capital received one-third of the total monsoon rainfall.

Given that Delhi receives about 650 mm of rainfall throughout the monsoon season, meteorologists suggested that these could be extreme weather events.
