Just a week after the “It’s glowtime” iPhone 16 series launch event, Apple on Monday rolled out the first stable builds of iOS 18 for over 25 different iPhone models and iPadOS 18 for over 10 different iPad models. The iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates first showcased at WWDC 2024 bring new customisation features with Apple intelligence for select models.
The iPhone SE 2 Gen 2 and iPhone XS/XR are some of the oldest iPhones that are eligible for the iOS 18 update, similarly, the iPadOS 18 update is available for iPads as old as the 7th Gen iPad.
While the update is available for a variety of iPhones and iPads, the feature set will vary from device to device, where the new AI features also known as Apple Intelligence will come to the iPhone 15 Pro series and the latest iPhone 16 series via a future iOS 18.1 software update and iPads with M series chips.
Apple's latest software updates, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, enable users to fully customize their iPhones and iPads to their liking, including the ability to change app icon color according to the wallpaper, the ability to place app icons anywhere on the home screen, customizable Quick Settings or Control Center, and more.
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are available to developers and enthusiasts, but this latest build is for all users, and can be installed on any eligible iPhone and iPad without any issues. Users must back up their data and fully charge their iPhone or iPad before installing the update.
