Apple will introduce new AI features for all these iPhones through iOS 18
Apple is launching new iPhones next month but its much-awaited AI update is still a few months away and only select iPhones will get it.
Apple's new AI features will also come to older iPhones, but only if you have a Pro variant. Apple intelligence tools will be introduced in all the latest iPhone models, including the non-Pro variants. iOS 18 is touted as its biggest update in years, with Siri getting an AI overhaul to finally make it reliable and useful for millions of people.
But millions of iPhone users will miss out on the opportunity to experience the new devices and Siri upgrades, forcing them to either buy the latest iPhone or even a year-old version to get the best out of the AI improvements and additions.

As we have seen in recent years, Apple's AI focus may be tilting towards premium devices as it looks to continue its perceived premiumization of the iPhone lineup in the market. Having said that, the brand does realize the need to increase the number of devices that can run its AI features.
Therefore, bringing the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus into the AI mix is important as it allows those using the iPhone 15/15 Plus or even the older iPhone 14/14 Mini models to consider buying the regular variants instead of spending big on the older and new iPhone Pro models.
At the same time, Apple is anticipating high demand for the shiny new iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max versions, which explains its rumoured decision to make more units of the Pro than the regular iPhone 16 models when they launch later this year.
The other big issue is that Apple may also power the rumoured iPhone SE 4 model with the new A18 chipset, which would put the iPhone 15/15 Plus in a tough spot and make them less attractive to buyers by the time these new iPhones hit the market early next year.
Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 16 series launch event will take place on September 9, which is Monday. The company's 'Glowtime' event also hints at further updates on AI features and a new-look Siri for these iPhones.
