Arvind Kejriwal bungalow controversy: CBI files preliminary inquiry to probe alleged irregularities


The CBI has registered a preliminary inquiry into alleged “irregularities and mismanagement” in the construction of a new official residence for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, officials said on Wednesday.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi denied any wrongdoing and accused the BJP of “using all its might to destroy you”.

The CBI has registered a PE against unidentified public servants of the Delhi government, officials said.

A preliminary inquiry is the first step to find out whether the allegations have substantial material to proceed with a formal FIR.

The Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI sought the approval and recommendations of its officials regarding changes from PWD records, tender documents, bids submitted by contractors, approval of building plans and clients for high-end features such as modular kitchens.
