Union Minister Ashwini Vishnu today announced that the Cabinet has given the green light to a major project to build 12 industrial smart cities in 10 states. The cities will come along six major industrial corridors. The industrial areas will be located in Kharpiya in Uttarakhand, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Agra and Prayagraj in UP, Gaya in Bihar, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Orokal and Koparthi in AP and Jodhpur-Pali. Rajasthan.

“This initiative is poised to transform the country's industrial landscape by creating a strong network of industrial nodes and cities that will significantly boost economic growth and global competitiveness,” the government said. “The government has said.

World-class greenfield industrial smart cities will be built with “plug-n-play” and “walk-to-work” concepts, the government said in a statement.

The investment potential of the project will be around 1.52 lakh crore. It is designed to foster a vibrant industrial ecosystem by facilitating investment from large anchor industries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises or MSMEs.

These industrial nodes will act as catalysts to achieve $2 trillion in exports by 2030.

The government has said that the cabinet's green light for the smart industrial cities project “takes a step forward to fulfill the vision of Vicsit Bharat – a developed India.”

“Positioning India as a strong player in global value chains”, the project will provide land parcels ready for immediate allotment, making it easier for domestic and international investors to set up manufacturing units.

“This is consistent with the broader objective of creating an 'Atmanir Bhar Bharat' or self-reliant India, promoting economic growth through increased industrial production and employment,” the government said.
