Authorities say motorcyclist shot another driver on the 10 Freeway, killing him

A motorcyclist is suspected of shooting and killing another driver on the eastbound 10 Freeway in Covina early Saturday, authorities said.

CHP Officer Sean Lough said California Highway Patrol officers responded to an area of ​​the freeway near the Via Verde exit around 2:16 p.m. Upon arrival, he said, they found a man shot inside a white Chevy Camaro on the right shoulder of the freeway.

A 19-year-old passenger was also inside the car, but was not hit by gunfire, according to CHP Sgt. Dan Keane.

Keane said the victim was able to recover after being shot multiple times by the motorcyclist. Officials arrived within seven minutes but were unable to revive him even after making life-saving efforts, he said.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics later pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

His identity has not been released but CHP officials described him as a man in his 20s. The agency had earlier said he was 19 years old.
