This is a big blow for DC, who need to win their next two games to easily reach the playoffs. His net run rate is not the best; A defeat in any of the remaining two matches could mean the end of their playoff hopes this year. And losing Pant is a three-way blow for the team. He is not only their captain but also their best batsman of the season and their best keeper.

Pant has scored 413 runs in 12 matches this year at a strike rate of 156.
