Biker dies after colliding with car near DLF-P3 on Golf Course Road.


A 23-year-old man was killed on Sunday morning after being hit by a motorcycle by a car traveling in the wrong direction on Golf Course Road near Belvedere Park of DLF Phase II. Police said on Monday that the victim was riding a motorcycle with a friend when the fatal accident took place.

Investigators said the incident took place at around 5.45 am on Sunday when the deceased, identified as Akshat Garg of Pochanpur in Dwarka, Delhi, was riding his motorcycle with protective gear including helmet and gloves. He added that his friend and accomplice, Pradyuman Kumar, aged 22, was chasing him on another motorcycle from a distance of about 100 feet.

Police said the two men had started their journey from different locations — Garg from Dwarka and Kumar from New Palam Vihar — and had planned to meet a group of riders at Ambience Mall after departing from DLF Downtown. . According to investigators, after crossing the Sikandarpur-Syber Hub flyover, they approached a bend when a speeding Mahindra XUV 300 car suddenly came from the wrong direction. He added that the car, which had a sticker of a political party, collided with Garg's motorcycle.

“Neither the car driver nor Garg had any chance to avoid the collision,” said a senior police officer, describing the scene further, adding, “The impact took Garg on top of the car. And his motorcycle went beyond recognition.”

According to the officer, the passengers quickly gathered, and emergency services were alerted. He added that despite an ambulance arriving within five minutes and taking Garg to a nearby hospital at DLF Phase-II, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Garg's friend Kumar tries to help him. “There were two men in their mid-20s and a dog inside the car. The passengers caught them and handed them over to the police. Unfortunately, my friend was unresponsive within seconds when I tried to open his helmet. Diya,'' Kumar added.

Kumar also noted that the car was moving in the wrong direction in the lane for speeding vehicles. “My GoPro camera mounted on my helmet recorded the entire accident. But the police did not take a copy of the footage even after viewing it,” he added, expressing frustration. “Later, I found out that The car driver was released from the police station,” alleged Kumar.

Gurugram Police Public Relations Officer Sandeep Kumar said that the driver was arrested on the spot. He was later identified as Kuldeep Kumar Thakur, 25, of Madhubani, Bihar. He lived in Ghitorni, Delhi and owned a firm that runs social media campaigns for elections,'' Kumar added.

“He told the police that he was returning from Palwal and was driving according to Google Maps, which prima facie does not seem correct. Later he got bail from the police station,” he added.

Garg worked in a multinational travel firm with an office in DLF Downtown. He and Kumar regularly joined other riders on Sunday morning joy rides.

On Kumar's complaint, an FIR was registered against Thakur under several sections, including 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving), 324 (4) (causing more harm than good). . 20,000), and 166 of the Motor Vehicle Act (compensation after motor vehicle accident) at DLF Phase-II Police Station.
