Residents of several areas of the city, including those living in DLF Phase 1, 2 and 3 societies, have been facing frequent and continuous power outages due to erratic supply, residents alleged on Monday. .
He said that despite the rain and drop in temperature for the past few days, there has been no respite from the power outages that often last from minutes to hours at intervals throughout the day. Apart from this, residents also complained of voltage drop due to overloading or faulty feeders or transformers.
According to the residents, long power outages occur especially in the morning, evening and late at night, which adds to their problems as water pumps cannot be turned off due to power outages, which also creates water crisis. becomes
Residents of Gurugram alleged that the ongoing spat between power discoms and local developers is fueling the crisis, with neither willing to take responsibility for improving infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the city. .
Dhruv Bansal, representative of residents of DLF City, said that every day they face at least three to four hours of power cut throughout the day. He said that the internal power supply infrastructure is old and was initially developed by DLF but due to further construction and increase in population, the load has increased.
“Both developers as well as Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVN) have transformers installed inside our societies. While the developer says DHBVN will take care of any problem, discom officials say it It is the developer who needs to hand over the infrastructure to them after fulfilling the conditions,” he said.
Shikha (known by her first name), a resident of DLF Phase-1, said she was fed up with the situation. “The erratic power supply is adding to our problems as outages occur when it is time to run the water pumps,” he said.
Ard City RWA representative, Cheitali Mandhotra, said the power supply crisis in her society was resolved after DHBVN installed a 400kV transformer to reduce overloading. “We were facing heavy outage till a fortnight ago but now the supply is smooth and due to this the water supply is also good,” he added.
Shalini Pannu, DHBVN Executive Engineer, Sub-Urban Division, said that there are several pockets in certain areas of DLF City where a 40kW transformer has been used for multi-storied houses built on 60 square yard plots. “There is a limit to which infrastructure can be developed in a particular area. Thus, these pockets face outages. There are some blocks that change power supply from one substation to another. We face time constraints,” he said.
Meanwhile, Satish Kumar, executive engineer of DHBVN, Manesar division, said developer Vatika India was supposed to construct three 33kV switching substations for Vatika India Next but none of them were built. He has also requested the High Court to stay the submission of bank guarantee of approx. ₹44 crore to DHBVN against these stations,” he said.
“The residents of the society are being supplied with electricity from two 11kV feeders connected to the 66kV substation at Harsaro. Due to these disruptions, all residents of the area are facing blackouts due to overloading,” he said. He further said that until the substations are built, the congestion problems in the area will not be solved.
