Char Dham Yatra affected by rain, after the day started with snowfall

Every year, millions of devotees come for the Char Dham Yatra.

A day after the start of the Char Dham Yatra, Uttarakhand received heavy rain today. The sudden change in weather created difficulties for the pilgrims on the adventurous pilgrimage. The Ganga Valley receives a lot of rain, including the Gangotri temple, along with Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath is one of the pilgrimage sites of the Char Dham Yatra.

The weather in Badrinath also took a turn for the worse today as the higher peaks received snowfall and the low-lying areas were lashed by rain, a day before the temple opens for devotees.

Earlier in the day, a huge crowd of devotees were stuck in hours-long queues on the Yamunotri mountain pass. The devotees accused the administration of not having proper arrangements.

The Char Dham Yatra began yesterday, as the gates of the Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Gangotri temples were thrown open to devotees. The gates of Yamyunotri and Kedarnath were opened at 7 am yesterday while the gates of Gangotri temple opened at 12.25 pm in the presence of thousands of devotees.

Every year, lakhs of devotees come for the pilgrimage from April-May to October-November.
