Chicago police say 8 people were shot Sunday morning in River North


Eight people were shot during a shooting in River North early Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.

A fight broke out between a group of people about 2:38 a.m. in the 300 block of West Erie Street, police said.

Four people are admitted to the hospital in serious condition. A 43-year-old woman was shot in the stomach and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. A 32-year-old man was shot throughout the body and taken to Stroger, police said.

An adult male, who was shot in the head, and another adult male, who was shot in the abdomen, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to police.

Three of the victims are listed in good condition. A 27-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 25-year-old man was shot in the waist, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A 23-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A 27-year-old man was shot throughout the body and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

There are no suspects in custody and police said they are investigating the shooting.
