Gurgaon: Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad has ordered the MCG to impose fines on four joint commissioners under Rule 7 (Major Punishment) of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016, for failing to ensure that Garbage collection centers should be cleaned periodically. If no significant improvement in cleanliness is observed within four weeks, these officers can be dismissed after issuing a notice. These instructions were given in a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary recently. Further, Prasad also directed that the salaries of two senior sanitary inspectors be withheld for six months. The withheld salaries will be disbursed with interest on January 1, 2025 on their satisfactory performance and on the recommendation of the supervising HCS officers in their respective wards. An MCG official said that if their work is deemed unsatisfactory, dismissal proceedings will be initiated. The Chief Secretary also said that manpower accounting is necessary to ensure adequate staffing in each ward. A standard format should be developed and distributed to all HCS officers, enabling them to effectively monitor staffing levels in their assigned wards. By implementing this approach, HCS officers will have the necessary tools to assess and locate specific manpower needs for their wards. This will facilitate efficient allocation of resources in the city. Prasad said on Monday that Gurgaon will be made the cleanest city in Asia. The Haryana government announced the Solid Waste Agency and subsequently the Solid Waste Environment Agency Program (SWEEP) campaign, and also formed teams headed by 19 officials from MCG, District Administration and GMDA to monitor the campaign. A control room has already been set up. To address complaints of construction and demolition waste, municipal solid waste, and horticultural waste. The committee has been tasked with analyzing the gaps in the existing infrastructure, creating a GIS-based map for waste tracking and developing an effective grievance redressal mechanism. Additionally, the MCG also filed an FIR against a private agency that has been awarded the contract. To ensure cleanliness and sanitation of roads in certain parts of the city under the direction of the Chief Secretary. The corporation accused the private firm of neglecting its responsibilities in cleaning the designated areas or providing efficient services as per its contract with the corporation. The firm was hired in Zones 1A and 2B last August to clean roads, clear drains and remove bushes.
