New Delhi [India]June 19 (ANI): The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man at the Indira Gandhi International Airport who was traveling on a passport issued in the name of a 67-year-old man. Delhi.
According to the CISF, at around 5:20 pm on June 18, based on profiling and behavioral detection, CISF surveillance and intelligence personnel at the IGI Airport searched the Terminal 3 check-in area. Stopped a passenger. Identified as Rashendra Singh Sahota, DOB, 2nd February 1957, PP No. 438851 (Indian), departed for Canada by Air Canada Flight No. AC 043/STD at 2250 hrs.
However, on checking his passport, discrepancies were noticed. His appearance, voice and skin texture seemed much younger than the details given in the passport. A closer look revealed that he had dyed his hair and beard white and wore glasses to show his age.
Because of these suspicions, he was taken to a random checkpoint in the departure area for a thorough search. During examination of his mobile phone soft copy of another passport in the name of Guru Sevak Singh with date of birth 10th June 2000 bearing passport number V4770942 was found.
On further questioning, the passenger admitted that his real name is Guru Sevak Singh and is 24 years old, traveling on a passport issued in the name of Rashendra Singh Sahota, 67 years old.
Since the case involved fake passports and impersonation, the passenger and his luggage were handed over to the Delhi Police for legal action in the matter.
Vigilance and close vigilance by CISF personnel was crucial to intercept the individual and prevent possible misuse of travel documents. (ANI)
