GURGAON: Amid the ongoing sanitation problem in the city, Divisional Commissioner RC Bidhan on Saturday launched a program under which an MCG ward that maintains the highest standards of cleanliness for two consecutive months, the development of the area. One crore rupees will be awarded for this. While 5 million rupees will be given to the ward that maintains cleanliness for one month. This was announced during the review meeting at the Finance Secretariat. DC Nishant Kumar Yadav and MCG Commissioner Narhari Singh Bangar were also present in the meeting. He apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the ongoing activities under the Solid Waste Environmental Requirements Program (SWEEP). Badhan said that the reward money has already been sanctioned and an independent agency will be hired for the survey and the basis of the report. But if they submit, the prize will be distributed. “The prize money will be used by the residents of the ward for the development of their area.” Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad will inspect different parts of the city on Sunday to review the progress of the works done so far. Officers should regularly monitor the work of garbage collection from house to house. Additionally, all secondary points should be cleaned daily and in areas where door-to-door garbage collection is regular, any attempt to throw garbage in the open should be fined. A tractor trolley should be kept at each dump site. Waste status at secondary points should be regularly updated using GIS mapping. Similarly, an area war list of C&D waste workers should be prepared and licenses should be issued to them only for dumping waste in specific areas. The municipal commissioner said that 25 bulk generators of C&D waste have been identified in the city. MCG has registered FIRs against four and fined 19 tractor-trolleys. After the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner visited the waste plant in Bandhwadi and other areas and reviewed the sanitation situation.
