CM Revanth unveiled the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at the Telangana Secretariat.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Secretariat on Monday, September 16.

The incident comes amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling Congress and the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which opposes it.

In August, a verbal spat broke out between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) after Revanth announced plans to install a statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat.

The site was originally designated by the previous BRS government for the statue of Telangana Thali, and the issue led to heated exchanges between the two leaders.
