New Delhi: A Nigerian man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country. The cocaine is worth Rs 25 crore. at the international airport here, according to an official statement issued on Monday. The accused was arrested on September 7 after coming from Dubai.
During the investigation, the passenger informed the officers what he had done. Capsules containing the drug or psychotropic substances, said a statement issued by Customs Department.
He said he voluntarily produced 28 oval-shaped capsules containing suspected narcotic substances.
“He confirmed that there were more capsules inside his body and agreed to undergo medical procedures to remove them. The passenger was then taken away. Safdarjung Hospital for medical procedures. During his stay at the hospital, he expelled 56 (fifty-six) more capsules,” the statement said.
When these capsules were cut, white colored powder/granules were suspected. Drugs It said that a substance weighing 1,660 grams was recovered and tested positive for cocaine.
The said cocaine is estimated to be worth Rs 24.90 crore, the statement said, adding that the passenger has been arrested.
