Dengue has claimed the life of a community health officer in Mysore district. This is the first death due to dengue in the district this year.
Nagendra, 28, working as a community health officer at the Gurupura Primary Health Centre in Hunsur taluka, died of dengue on Tuesday.
Confirming this, Mysuru DHO Dr. Kumaraswamy said that the community health officer died of dengue.
Mysore district has reported 479 dengue cases since January this year. The DHO said the positivity rate has come down from 17 per cent a few months ago to 9 per cent now. He said all measures have been taken to prevent and control the spread of dengue.
He said 3,489 dengue tests were conducted in Mysuru district between January and June and 479 cases were detected.
