Congress criticized PM Modi and Nitish for giving special status to Bihar. India News

NEW DELHI: Highlighting that the JD(U), a key ally in the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, has just passed a resolution giving central aid to Bihar. As the demand for special category status has been reiterated, the Congress sought to know whether state chief minister Nitish Kumar would muster the courage to have the state cabinet pass such a resolution.

Congress general secretary in charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, said in a post on X, “The JD(U) has just passed a resolution reiterating its demand for special category status in central aid to Bihar. Will the Chief Minister ask the state cabinet to have the courage to pass such a resolution? “Will the Chief Minister of Bihar speak?” he asked.

And what about TDP in its new innings? Why has it not yet passed such a resolution for Andhra Pradesh, which was emphasized by the non-biological Prime Minister in the holy city of Tirupati on April 30, 2014,” asked Ramesh.

Ramesh also shared video clips of PM Modi's speeches in the post where he is seen assuring the people of Bihar and AP to address and convey their demands and concerns.

Ever since the election results, the Congress has been raising the issue of special category status for Andhra Pradesh and Bihar and how Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to implement it.

Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Nitish Kumar's JD(U) have taken center stage as the main players in government formation and the BJP has emerged as the single largest party with 239 seats but to form the government. Required is less than 272 marks. The BJP-led NDA along with its allies have 293 members in the Lok Sabha. The TDP has 16 members and the JD(U) has 12 members in the Lok Sabha.

In a post on X on Bihar earlier this month after the results were announced, Ramesh had asked, “Will you (Modi) give special status to Bihar as promised in 2014 and your colleague Nitish Kumar's 10 Will meet the year-old demand? He further asked, “Will Nitish Kumar be able to address these concerns effectively? Or will Narendra Modi's 1/3rd government fall before any effective action can be taken?”
