COVID concerns rise in new Gallup poll

Three in 10 Americans believe the COVID-19 pandemic is worsening, while more than one in four are worried about getting infected, according to a new Gallup poll.

The new survey published Thursday found that 30 percent of respondents said the ongoing pandemic is getting worse, while 41 percent believe it is getting better and 30 percent said it is staying the same Is.

This represents a 25 percent increase from a similar survey published in May, where 5 percent of respondents said they believed the pandemic was getting worse.

Based on political party, 44 percent of Democrat respondents believe the ongoing pandemic is getting worse, compared with 22 percent of independents and 16 percent of Republicans.

Asked about their concern about transmitting the virus, 41 percent of Democratic respondents were personally concerned, while 23 percent of independents and 11 percent of Republicans were personally concerned.

The survey comes as the Biden administration announced Wednesday that it would restart a program that allows people to order free COVID-19 tests through the mail, after a surge in cases over the winter. Prepares for possible increase. The website will relaunch for new orders on Monday.

Federal agencies also approved a new COVID-19 vaccine last week, which is now widely available at pharmacies, local health departments and community clinics. However, the rollout has been off to a slow start as insurers adapt to the first vaccine rollout after the federal health emergency ends.

Since July, the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has been rising in the US, although the numbers remain significantly lower than during the peak of the pandemic.

The Gallup poll was conducted from August 29 to September 5, with a total of 5,287 respondents participating in the survey. The margin of error in the survey was two percentage points.
