Daniel Dubois seeks redemption in potential rematch against Joshua

If Anthony Joshua decides to face Daniel Dubois again, he believes there is potential for improvement. Dubois will want to be “more clinical” the next time he faces Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), and he believes he can do that.

It's hard to see Dubois improving after what he did against AJ last Saturday night, which was nearly flawless. If Dubois modifies his unyielding, bomb-away technique and incorporates more boxing into his repertoire, the results could be dire.

Not only has Joshua said nothing about accepting a rematch, but he could decide to stay away from Dubois and focus on big-money fights instead. Eddie Hearn, his manager, wants him to fight Tyson Fury next because he could earn a lot of money doing so.

Defending his IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium in London last Saturday night, Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) stopped Joshua in the fifth round. Having expressed his desire to win the title three times, Joshua appeared overconfident.

“Yeah, if that happens, I'm ready for it. I'll do even better next time. I know what I have to improve on. I just want to prove people wrong all the time, and that's what we're doing. I think I'll be even more clinical next time,” Daniel Dubois said in media reports.

It would be better for Dubois to forget about Joshua and focus on ground fighting. Neither Anthony Joshua nor the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 will probably be given a chance to face him.

The best fighters may be disappointed by Dubois' performance against AJ because their management will focus on more fights that can be won and get more paydays. These fighters—Joseph Parker, Zhilei Zhang, Dillian Whyte and Martin Bakole—are the most practical options for Dubois.

“Either of them. Whichever one will make me the most money,” DuBois said.
