Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday revisited the 1995 Lucknow 'state guest house incident', criticizing the Samajwadi Party (SP) for its 'deadly attack' and the ruling Congress. However, it did not help them. Center at this time.
The statement came just three days after Mayawati thanked SP president Akhilesh Yadav for his support against “objectionable comments” made by a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA during a TV debate.

What was the Lucknow State Guest House incident?
• On 2 June 1995, Mayawati announced her decision to withdraw support to the BSP from the then Mulayam Singh Yadav government.
• Subsequently, Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders and workers allegedly assaulted her at a guest house in Lucknow where she was meeting her party leaders.
• Mayawati was rescued from the guest house by BJP leaders.
• Subsequently, the Governor dismissed the Mulayam Singh Yadav government and invited Mayawati to form the new government.
Mayawati's criticism of Congress
The BSP supremo questioned why the Congress, despite being in power at the Center at that time, did not pay attention to this incident. Mayawati also criticized the Congress for allegedly planning to impose President's Rule in Uttar Pradesh after the attack, a move the BSP claimed was foiled.
“Even when Kanshi Ramji's condition was critical and he was admitted to the hospital, the Home Minister had to be reprimanded and the opposition even surrounded Parliament, only then did the Congress government act,” he said in Hindi. .
“Because at that time the intentions of the central Congress government were also spoiled, which wanted to run its government behind the scenes by imposing President's rule in Uttar Pradesh after an unfortunate incident, whose plot was thwarted by the BSP,” he said. Mayawati further claimed.
Mayawati said that the entire opposition, including the BJP, had come to her aid during the attack.

It also expressed concern over the Congress' commitment to ensure the rights of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the wake of the Caste Census.
