All lanes reopened on I-10 headed toward Metairie after fatal crash

The forecast will be coming a little later. But first, we're also seeing some breaking news on the roads. A deadly crash has caused a traffic jam for miles. Right now, multiple agencies are on scene on I-10 West, right near the 610 merge. Yes, heading westbound, we have a crew on the way to the scene, but as you can see in this live video of the traffic here, it's backed up. And it will cause a jam for miles. Yes. Right now it looks like all lanes are blocked. You can see those two left lanes there. We're open, so that gives you a closer look at the crash site. If you're traveling from the New Orleans metro area and you're traveling toward Metairie right now, it's just after the west end exit, so that's blocking all lanes of traffic right now. So coming from downtown to Metairie, we're seeing delays on the Crescent City Connection bridge. It'll take you about an hour to get from the bridge to here. As you can see, they've reopened traffic on these two left lanes of travel. But the right lanes, they're still blocked. We know that at least one person is dead in this crash, which happened around 2:00 PM this afternoon. As we work to get you more details again, add that extra time if you need to go, or I would recommend not even going on the interstate highway. All lanes of Interstate 10 West headed toward Metairie have reopened after a fatal crash. The accident happened Wednesday afternoon near the Interstate 610 merge. According to NOPD, one person was killed, but the number of people involved in the crash was not made available. I-610 West has reopened at the I-10 interchange near the Jefferson Parish line as the investigation into the accident continues.
