Delhi International Airport Limited has introduced a new self-service mechanism to reduce passenger time during the check-in process. The new process will help passengers unload their luggage faster, get luggage tags and print boarding passes in just 30 seconds.
With this, Delhi becomes the first airport in India and the second globally to implement the technology, Delhi International Airport Limited said. Toronto has the same facility.

The check-in process will be available with Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo. DIAL has reportedly deployed 50 self-service bag drop units in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
How Automatic Self-Drop Baggage Machines Work
- You will need to collect and attach their bag tags at the CUSS kiosk at the airport.
- The bags are then placed on the Self Baggage Drop (SBD) conveyor belt.
- The system will open the airline application on the SBD machine with one click.
- Passengers have to agree to the self-declaration form.
- This system will check all the relevant standards and business rules defined by the airlines.
