Delhi High Court blocks Kejriwal's bail, allows urgent hearing on ED plea


The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 21 approached the Delhi High Court challenging the bail granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case stemming from the alleged excise scam.

ED's counsel on Thursday sought a stay on the bail order granted by the trial court and said that he was not given full opportunity to complete his arguments by the trial court.

The Delhi High Court stayed the bail order.

The High Court on Friday said the trial court's order will not be given effect until it hears the ED's plea challenging the relief granted in the money laundering case.

The ED mentioned his request for an urgent hearing before a bench of Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravindra Dudija, saying that the case file would come to him in 10-15 minutes and after that he would hear the matter. will do

The High Court said that the order of the trial court will not be followed till then.

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED, sought a stay on the trial court's order, saying the agency was not given adequate opportunity to argue its case.

The ED had arrested Mr. Kejriwal on March 21, soon after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him immunity from arrest on his plea challenging the summons issued to him.

Criticism of AAPMP government after Delhi High Court stayed trial court order

AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making a mockery of the justice system after the Delhi High Court stayed the trial court's order granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal.

Regarding X, Mr. Singh said in a post in Hindi, “Look at the bullying of the Modi government, the order of the trial court has not come yet, even the copy of the order has not been received, so Modi's ED has reached the High Court. Where is the court?” Challenge the order? What is happening in this country? Why are you mocking the justice system? The whole country is watching you,” said AAPMP.
