Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday announced that he will start a new chapter in his political career from Channapatna. Addressing a gathering at the Hanuman temple in Kengal, Shivakumar expressed his gratitude to the people of Channapatna and outlined his plans for the future.
Shivakumar said, “A significant change in my political career has taken place from Channapatna. I have come to Anjaneya Mandir in Kengal to start a new chapter in my political career.”
Shivakumar also hinted at future plans while mentioning the imminent announcement of the candidate for the Channapatna by-election.
“I am in a good position in the government and I have prepared a plan to develop Channapatna. I have got another chance to repay your debt. We will soon announce the candidate for the Channapatna by-election.” ” he revealed.
Reflecting on the recent election results, Sivakumar acknowledged the lessons learned from his brother DK Suresh's defeat in the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency.
“The people of the constituency have made me understand my shortcomings since my brother DK Suresh's defeat. I understand that and I am going to correct them without blaming anyone for it,” he admitted. admitted.
He spoke about his connection to the region, noting that parts of Channapatna were earlier included in his former constituency of Satanur.
“Channapatna is in my heart. Channapatna is also the place that gave me political birth,” Shivakumar said, adding that he has held important posts like deputy chief minister and KPCC president. Despite this, he remains committed to the people of Chinnapatna.
Shivakumar vowed to turn Channapatna into a “golden land”.
“I have allocated Rs 1,000 crore for Ramnagar district. Everyone around Bengaluru, including Chinnapatna, belongs to Bengaluru. The area around Bengaluru will be renamed soon, and I will soon I will share the information. I will get the blessings of 15 people. It is the vow of the temples in Channapatna that I will make Channapatna a golden land,” Shivakumar said.
About the upcoming Chinnapatna by-election, Sivakumar did not rule out the possibility of contesting, saying he would abide by the decision of the party and the voters.
Shivkumar was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, “…there is no other option. I will have to listen to my party and the voters.”.
The Channapatna by-election was necessitated by the election of JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy to the Lok Sabha. Speculations are rife that Shivakumar may contest from the seat to reassert his influence in the region.
