On October 4, a resident of Delhi's Mayur Vihar Extension left her five-year-old spaniel, Milo, at a dog cart in Paws Point, Noida. Seventeen days later, when she returned from vacation, she was informed that Milo had taken her for grooming and run away.
On Thursday, October 24, the Noida police registered an FIR against Paws Point owner Swati Sharma after Milo's body was found 5.1 km from the centre. The FIR was registered at the Sector 113 police station under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Upon returning from vacation, the family searched for Milo and found CCTV footage allegedly showing a man on a motorcycle and a 14-year-old boy pulling the dog by its leash. The footage also shows the dog being beaten. According to the complaint, both the man and the minor boy work at Paws Point.
“Initially, the police sided with the people involved and tried to expedite the case,” alleged the woman.
Soura Sharma, the investigating officer of the case, told The Indian Express that the investigation is on. “We have seized the bike of one person involved in the case and issued a challan. As we proceed with the investigation, we will include the names of those involved in the dog's death,” he said. said
In her FIR, the woman alleged that the crèche staff abused Milo and misled her about her whereabouts. “My dog was subjected to severe abuse, beaten on the head and spine and was also planned to be sold to another party,” the woman claimed.
The woman's daughter said it wasn't the first time they had dropped off Milo at Paws Point. The center receives Rs 600 per day. They dragged my dog by the leash and killed it. Later, we found him dead,” said the complainant's daughter.
Meanwhile, Swati Sharma denied the allegations saying that Milo ran away from the car while taking her for grooming. “I was driving with an assistant who works with me. I forgot to activate the child lock, and Milo ran away and got into an accident,” explained Sharma.
