Drake issues plea to media after Kendrick Lamar feud and mansion failure

Drake has issued a plea to the media in the wake of what has been a controversial fortnight for the rapper.

Over the past few weeks, the Canadian star made headlines over his feud with Kendrick Lamar, in which the pair launched personal attacks against each other. A few days later, a drive-by shooting occurred outside Drake's residence.

On Tuesday (May 7), a security guard was shot in the chest and when officers arrived at the scene they found him unconscious.

It is believed the guard was standing outside the front gate of the property when he was shot at about 2am. He was later taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police said a suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Authorities could not confirm whether Drake was home at the time of the shooting, but said the rapper's team was cooperating with the investigation.

A few days later, an intruder tried to break into Drake's mansion, with another seen outside the residence a few hours later. The second intruder had an altercation with security guards and was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which were serious but not life-threatening.

Drake has now noted the frenzied interest in his residency on Instagram via a post addressed to Canadian news organization CP24.

He wrote: “Can we discuss the helicopter flight time over the house because I'm not going to lie, I'm trying to sleep. Anytime after 3pm works great for me.
