Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe, has explained why his side beat Arsenal 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Alexander Isak's first-half goal earned Newcastle United victory over the Gunners at James Park.
Speaking to BBC MOTD after the game, Howe suggested that Newcastle beat Mikel Arteta's side because his players worked hard for the competition.
According to him, his team defended really well in the second half against the visitors.
“Today's performance was based on hard work, desire and very good defense in the second half. I thought we looked good,” Howe said.
“It was focus and consistency in our attitude for 95 minutes. We managed and controlled some very good players today.
“It's three points but it means a lot because we haven't won in the Premier League for a while. I'm sure it will do us the world of good.
