Kubbra Sait will next be seen in Shahid Kapoor starrer action thriller Deva, and the actor gave us an insight into her character. “I am playing a police officer and I am really excited about the action that I am going to do. I am currently shooting for it and having a lot of fun. I am getting to see Mumbai like I have never seen before. I am getting to experience the heat, rain, live locations and it is a high-intensity physical shoot,” she revealed.
The 40-year-old actress is also all praise for her co-star Kapoor. “In Farzi, Shahid and I did not have any scenes together. This is the first time I am getting a chance to work with him. He has a process that I observe from a distance. One thing I can say without a doubt is that he is one of the most talented actors in our industry,” she recalls, adding that her first meeting with Kapoor was during a hosting gig. “The first time I met him was during a show that I was hosting for Ishq Vishq (2003). I was 15 or 16 at that time,” she reveals.
Interestingly, Sait has been in the hosting profession for 20 years. “I remember I started 20 years ago in Bangalore and my first show was on a truck, where I was announcing that (actor) Shah Rukh Khan's show Temptation is happening in Bangalore,” she says, adding that the most attractive thing for her about hosting is the “instant gratification”.
Sait agrees that in hosting today, “experience has been replaced by popularity.” Asked if she was ever replaced by another famous name, she says, “My first show in Mumbai, I had prepared everything and told the event organisers to bring me at 4 pm, but nobody turned up by 4:30 pm. When I called them, they said, 'We had to replace you. We wanted a familiar face.' I lost shows because I wasn't very famous.” But have things changed since becoming an actor? “The work I do is still the same. But now that I am a celebrity, I get a certain freedom at the level of expression and that is a privilege I have earned,” she concludes.
