Given the success of season 1, the anticipation behind the release of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 should not be surprising. Its actors have elaborated on the challenging parts during filming of the upcoming season.
In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, the cast of the series, Markella Cavanagh and Megan Richards spoke about the upcoming season with the showrunner, JD Penn. The cast was asked about the challenges they faced while shooting for the series. Megan said, “It's not necessarily a challenge.”
“We had incredible support from everyone, because anything that seemed a bit tricky or that we had trouble understanding, we could always ask the show runners questions and ask the directors questions and talk to each other,” Marcella said.
He added that he felt like it was “more fun” than anything else and said that with hardships there is also something that can be learned.
The upcoming season will release on August 29. The much-awaited installment will surely be filled with many surprises as well as twists and turns. The series cast for season 2 includes Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Owain Arthur as Prince Durin IV, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, Benjamin Walker as High King Gil-galad, Emma Horvath as Arianne, Markella Cavanagh as Nori Brandifur, Peter Mullan as Kind Durin III, Meghan Richards as Poppy Proudfellow, Maxim Baldry as Isildur and Sophia Nomvete as Princess Disa.
Alongside the OG cast, there are also new faces joining the family, including Ciaran Hinds as the new Dark Wizard character and Sam Hazeldine who plays the Orc leader Adar, as well as many others who will grace the screen in the upcoming season.
The series is based on an adaptation of The Silmarillion by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. It is set in a brief and peaceful Second Age of Middle Earth, thousands of years before the events of Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is an attempt to bring Tolkien's influential work of this era to television screens.
The show will be released in parts. The first three episodes will be released this week on August 29 and the next three in September. The Season 2 finale will be in October. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
