Gurugram police have arrested eight people, including four women, for running bogus call centers and duping people on the pretext of getting jobs abroad.
Police said on Thursday that the suspects created a fake job website — internationaljobsolutions.com — and collected data of job aspirants from an online portal (shine.com) whom they duped during the last six months. gave
The accused have been identified as Nagendra Kumar, Vikrant Singh, Ravi Kumar, Kajal, Grima, Ranjan Kumar, Sahil Punia, and Agnes Fransch.
The police received a tip-off about an illegal call center from Gurugram's Palam Vihar area on Thursday. ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya said a raid was conducted which led to the arrest of eight accused.
The accused callers lured the unemployed youth for jobs abroad and also sent them fake appointment letters worth Rs 2-3 lakh on WhatsApp.
The ACP said the telephone operators were paid Rs 18,000 per month.
The officer added that ten mobile phones, four laptops and other incriminating items were seized during the raid.
