Family of Romeoville shooting victims release statement – NBC Chicago

The family of four victims who were shot inside a Romeoville residence over the weekend are speaking out for the first time, thanking deputies and police for their work in the case.

On Wednesday evening, the family of Zoraida Bartolomei, one of the four murder victims, released a statement.

The family said, “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of solidarity and support following our tragic loss. At this time, our primary focus is on extending support, assistance and love to our family and loved ones.” “We appreciate this understanding and we take this opportunity to once again express our deep gratitude for the solidarity and support shown by the people during this period.”

The family also stated that they would be unable to provide further comment due to the investigation and “severe challenges” facing the family following the murders.

Bartolome, Alberto Rolon and their two sons were shot dead inside their Romeoville home between 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Officials discovered the victims during a health checkup on Sunday.

Two suspects in the murders of a family of four were found shot inside a car in Oklahoma on Wednesday, days after the horrific murders were discovered.

Nathaniel Huey Jr., a 31-year-old man from Streamwood, Illinois, and an unnamed woman, who were identified as persons of interest in the murders, were involved in a car crash and shooting in Catoosa, Oklahoma, police said. A press conference.

On Wednesday morning, a digital license plate reader alert noted that a suspicious vehicle belonging to the pair was found in Catoosa, Oklahoma, police said. Officers there attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver “immediately attempted to flee from officers, resulting in a single-car crash,” Byrne said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicle eventually caught fire, Byrne said, and officers at the scene heard two gunshots, leaving Huey believed to be dead in the driver’s seat and the woman in the passenger seat critically injured. Both of them were shot.

“This is still an active and developing investigation and this part of the incident is still unfolding,” Byrne said.

Byrne did not elaborate on the relationship between Huey and the family, but said the evidence “has led us to a nexus between our suspect and the victims, as well as a possible motive.” However, he declined to comment on a possible motive.
