For one of nature's greatest builders, finding a mate means weaving the perfect nest

This bird species is native to South and Southeast Asia Ploceus philippinusKnown as the weaver weaver, the species gets its name from its unique nests, which often hang from palm trees over water. To build them, the males of the species, recognisable by their bright yellow plumage, sew together grass, leaves and twigs. The females then do the inspection work, poking holes in the structure to find weaknesses, and join the male only when his job is perfect. This short video packs about 18 days of meticulous work into three and a half minutes as it shows one of the world's most skilled and clever builders weaving a structure that he hopes will impress his mate.
