Gurgaon: A 37-year-old Water filter vendor Shot by unknown assailants in Hiranagar on Sunday. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds and is currently undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital. Police have confirmed he is in a stable condition and have launched raids to capture his former business partner, who is suspected of planning the attack.
The victim, Sandeep, originally from Jund, runs an RO water filter shop in Hiranagar in Sector 11. According to the police, the incident took place around 11 am when they received a tip from local residents about a biker being shot.
“Sandeep was found lying next to his bike with three bullet wounds in his leg and stomach. Unknown assailants fired four rounds at him who fled the scene on a motorcycle,” said Inspector Brahm Prakash.
A forensic team was dispatched to collect evidence, including four empty bullet casings and blood samples from the crime scene. During initial investigation, the police found that Sandeep also had an ongoing business dispute with his ex-partner Mandeep, who was also from Jund. Both had worked together till 2017. Mandeep Handed over the business to Sandeep and left. However, in 2023, Mandeep returned demanding his share in the business, causing tension between the two.
Gurgaon Police “There has been a dispute between Sandeep and Mandeep over the RO water filter business ever since Mandeep returned in 2023. This incident appears to be a result of that ongoing dispute,” spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said.
Inspector Prakash added that Sandeep had earlier lodged a complaint of assault against Mandeep, and a case was registered in 2023. “We suspect that Mandeep, along with two others, are behind the attack,” he said.
A case has been registered under Sections 3(5) (common intention), 109 (attempt to murder) and the Arms Act.
