Forza Motorsport’s rear-view mirror is facing criticism after early access players described it as a “pixelated mess”.,
Forza Motorsport is back after six long years, and some players already have early access before the game officially launches on October 10th.
The game has received praise from critics and players alike, with the game’s excellent new environments, a revised track list and the popular new progression system all standing out as key features this time around.

Still, although Turn 10 Studios has mastered some of the more complex areas of the game, early access players are pointing out problems related to the simplest racing features. This time, it’s the rear-view mirrors that are coming under fire from players who are describing them as a “pixelated mess.”
One player shared his frustration in a post on Reddit titled, “Can we talk about how bad the rearview camera is in this game?” The clip showed what could be seen through the rear-view mirror, and was not particularly helpful to players.

The video clip, although not the best quality footage, still inspired many other Forza Motorsport players to join the discussion and discuss the issue. The top comment in response was simply: “This is terrible even on PC.”
And other players quickly joined in to raise awareness, writing, “The mirror is a pixelated mess and zoomed in. It’s almost impossible to tell how close a car is behind you.”

Another player wrote, “Looks like you’re all racing on the milkshake surface,” referencing how the mirror is actually just showing pixelated cars zooming by with a vanilla background, not track features or environments. No.

Other players are simply objecting to how the rear-view mirror can be accessed and used in the game. They are getting confused after selecting the rear-view mirror in Settings and find that it is not visible in the game due to it not being available in certain camera angles.
Although the game does not note this, the rear-view mirror is only accessible when using the hood and bumper camera angles. The player can only use the in-car rear-view mirror while driving in the cockpit view, but they are also finding that the in-car mirror with the default FOV is hidden on the right side of the cockpit.

Players are hopeful that mirrors will be improved in a future update, writing, “Hopefully this will be fixed in the first patch, that’s a huge deal if they’re serious about driving safety in multiplayer.”
And this is the main issue. Forza Motorsport’s revised penalty system penalizes players for collisions or track violations. But with unreliable mirrors and a lack of radar or spotters, as shown in games like Assetto Corsa Competizione, players are finding it difficult to avoid trouble on the track.
