Due to the explosion, residents of the area came out of their houses and residential complexes. A Pimpri Chinchwad police officer said, “Initially, there were four back-to-back explosions on gas cylinders that were stacked together. We have reasons to believe that these gas cylinders were being refilled. There was a gas tanker standing next to the explosion. Fortunately, the tanker did not catch fire.

Another Pimpri Chinchwad police officer, who reached the spot, said, “Preliminary investigations suggest that the cylinders, which were kept on the truck, were being filled with propylene gas from a tanker when the explosion occurred. The fire brigade extinguished the fire. was brought under control and initially no casualties were reported.

Propylene, also known as propane, is a flammable hydrocarbon gas, with many industrial uses. “We are looking for the people who were involved in this filling business. We have reasons to believe that the gas filling process was being done illegally and the people involved fled the scene after the blasts. May be,” said another police officer.
