New Delhi: General Upinder Dwivedi took over as the new Army Chief on Sunday, replacing General Manoj Pandey who retired from service.
General Dwivedi, with extensive operational expertise along the China-Pakistan borders, held the post of Deputy Chief of Army Staff.

General Dwivedi's predecessor General Manoj Pandey retired after a 26-month tenure as chief. He was posted as Deputy Chief of Army Staff on 30 April 2022. Before that, he has held various positions.
